Music

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises.

Psalm 98:4-6

More than 500 years ago, church reformer Martin Luther wrote: “I have no use for cranks who despise music, because it is a gift of God. Next after theology, I give to music the highest place and the greatest honor.” At the Purple Door Church, we agree with Martin Luther! From the organist and choirs, to the contemporary service band, to the handbell choirs, to a singing congregation, music is a key avenue through which God is praised in worship. And, special musical events throughout the year round-out our desire to share the gift of music with the community.

Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
with the lyre and the sound of melody.

Praise Team

Chancel Choir

Our Praise Team plays during the 9:00 am service and practices on Wednesday nights. They are compiled of some of our talented members here at the Purple Door Church. If you would like to join,  we would love to have you. We play anything from piano to banjo, drums to tambourine.
The Chancel Choir helps to lead worship for the 10:30 Traditional service. Their music reflects the rich musical tradition in the Christian Church. Choral voices, congregation, organ, and grand piano join in harmony to bring praise to God. The carefully planned music selections, including favorite hymns and anthems, work to amplify the themes explored in the season and the day’s scriptures.  This choir rehearses on Sunday mornings at 9:30, in the choir loft.
Singers in middle school and older are welcome to join the Chancel Choir. No audition is required. Come join us!

Children's Choir

Our Children’s Choir is for kids grades 2 - 8.  They meet Wednesday evenings before WOW at 5:00 p.m. during the school year and sing in worship about once a month. They are always happy to have new members.
Children’s Choir a wonderful opportunity for kids to develop relationships with other kids at church and form lasting friendships, which in turn fosters their growth in the faith. Also, it’s a great activity for kids to get involved.
